Today the Durham News ran an Op-Ed entitled, “Commentary: Time to fix Durham’s police problem,” urging City Council not to delay action on racial profiling reforms, but instead to take decisive action at their Monday, June 16 City Council meeting….

Approximately 20 years ago the Plymouth, MA K-9 program was retired, but under the leadership of Chief Botieri, it was re-instituted in the spring of 2010. In March of 2011, an email was received from a family wishing to donate their six month old German Shepard to the program, that dog’s name Kaiser. Kaiser spent 6 months learning how to fulfill that role as a police dog and then was partnered with Jamie LeBretton. Two parties were thrown by University of Southern California students and were occurring on the same street at the same time. One party was predominantly made up of White students, the other was predominately made up of Black students. One of the parties was disbanded by 77 police officers…
